Ian Leonard - my photography
I am finally retired after 30 years as a photographer in Government service and a further 10 in Private Education.
Throughout this time I have photographed for Stock agencies and for my personal pleasure. I have always been interested in new techniques and feel that historical methods should remain just that! I've never understood the need to replicate modern photographs with old methods. Just me!
About Me
Rather too old for my liking, but I identify as about 35. Although I have been involved in photography for most of my life I have many interests, the latest being, learning guitar and if I'm honest, collecting guitars as well. Not sure how many I have but it must be approaching 30 odd.
I also still have my first car and one I bought in 1993. The first is a 1968 Mini 1000 super de Luxe and the other a 1992 Mini Cooper 1.3i. Neither roadworthy at the moment but wouldn't take much to get the Cooper going again.
Our Services
Digital
My first foray into digital photography was via scanning. Early experience on the rather rubbish Agfa 10x8 scanner then later on with a Umax. Currently I have 4 scanners running Nikon 4000, Nikon 8000, Epson flatbed and Epson document scanner.
Photoshop
I've been a photoshop user for about 30 years and although I am no expert, I am fairly accomplished in the photo side of things.
Digital Media
Being an Adobe subscriber means that I also get Lightroom, which is fine for 95% of photographs, rarely do I use Photoshop for day to day work. Fairly fluent in InDesign and Dreamweaver too.
Printing
I gave up on inkjet printing many years ago. If I have a big job to print I use commercial printers, but also run a couple of Dye Sub printers, a Canon for quick 6x4s and a Hi Ti P910L for upto A4 prints. Apart from the quality the biggest attraction for me is that if I haven't made a print for several months, it doesn't matter. I was forever getting blocked nozzles with inkjet.
